Listeria is a type of food-borne pathogen that affects daily meats — chicken and turkey products. How do you combat deadly bacteria on meat? The infection rate is 20 percent to 30 percent. The meat industry petitioned the USDA to let them use a virus as a food additive. So they’re spraying the meat with a virus that eats the bacteria.
