Fate of genetically modified fish still uncertain
Genetically engineered seeds are in the news frequently. However a biotech company called AquaBounty has been working on genetically engineered salmon. The fish will be a combination of Atlantic salmon and part Ocean Pout.
Approval of the genetically modified fish has been an uphill battle in the US, with the FDA supporting its introduction into the food supply, and attempts in Congress to block the approval.
Consumer outcry against the Frankenfish has had an impact. In 2012, approval is still up in the air and AquaBounty is struggling financially.
