Advertising to children is big business
“Study after study shows that children do not understand what advertising is about–that young children cannot comprehend how advertising is manipulating them.”
Obesity continues to be a public health crisis. Children learn what to eat through advertising, sometimes in spite of the best efforts of parents. And often parents are just as taken in by the advertising at some level, though they may consciously know better.
The question is: should the government step in to limit advertising? Many countries limit advertising to children, but that’s a hard sell in the US.
