Rebranding in the food industry
In September 2010, the Corn Refiners Association petitioned the FDA for permission to change the name of high fructose corn syrup to “corn sugar” on nutrition labels to make its product sound more appealing.
In May 2012, the FDA, rejected the petition. What this really comes down to a fight between the corn industry and the sugar industry.
