The magnesium miracle
Many symptoms can be relieved by increasing magnesium in the diet
Magnesium is used in hundreds of processes in the body and is found in all your tissues.
Most modern western diets are extremely deficient in magnesium. Processed foods, meat, and dairy have no magnesium. Magnesium is quickly depleted from the body during times of stress and with the consumption of alcohol and coffee. The RDA for magnesium, 400mg per day, is less than half of what people consumed before modern food processing.
Increasing magnesium helps fights the effects of stress and causes a relaxation effect in the body. It plays a role in effective digestion, and may relieve conditions ranging from heart palpitations to PMS. I found that increasing magnesium significantly reduced sciatic nerve pain.
Foods such as sea vegetables, spinach, swiss chard, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, black beans, quinoa, avocado, and almonds are great sources of dietary magnesium.
